Community Gardening

“Community gardening involves the communal cultivation of plants, varying in form according to local contexts and the needs and desires of gardening spaces and local residents”

Key Findings of the Health & Place Article.

  • Community gardening provided purpose, interaction, enjoyment, and calm.
  • •This practice is at the nexus of many influences and movements.
  • •The skills, resources, and connections of organisers promote its success.
  • •Public health initiatives risk unsettling and medicalising gardening practices.
  • •Wellbeing benefits of community gardening exceed biomedical understandings of health.

With these findings in mind, Men in Sheds aims to create Community Garden spaces serving the Polmassic, St Ewe, Gorran Haven, Gorran, Portmellon and Mevagissey area.

We hope you will follow our progress on this website/blog.
